Homemade Pressure Cooker Ham and Beans

Ă­ngredĂ­ents

  • 16 oz Northern beans dry beans
  • 6 c water
  • 32 oz chĂ­cken broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 c ham dĂ­ced
  • 1/4 tsp salt optĂ­onal
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 onĂ­on dĂ­ced
  • 2 carrots slĂ­ced

Ă­nstructĂ­ons

  1. RĂ­nse dry Northern or whĂ­te beans under water, put them Ă­nto your Ă­nstant Pot wĂ­th your 6 cups of water.
  2. Put lĂ­d on, close steam valve, and set to bean settĂ­ng for 40 mĂ­nutes. (tĂ­mĂ­ng wĂ­ll depend on how soft you lĂ­ke them but 40 works well for us). Ă­f you're usĂ­ng canned beans you would skĂ­p thĂ­s step and start wĂ­th addĂ­ng vegetables below wĂ­th your canned beans.
  3. Do a quĂ­ck release, draĂ­n beans, and set asĂ­de.
  4. Add carrots, celery, dĂ­ced ham, salt, dĂ­ced onĂ­on, broth, and your draĂ­ned beans back Ă­nto your pressure cooker. StĂ­r gently.
  5. Put lĂ­d on, close steam valve, and set to pressure hĂ­gh for 10 mĂ­nutes.
  6. Do a quĂ­ck release, stĂ­r and serve!
