EASY FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES

Ă­NGREDĂ­ENTS


  • 1 baguette (or your favorĂ­te rolls)
  • 1 Tablespoon olĂ­ve oĂ­l
  • 1 shallot (chopped)
  • 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 10 ounces beef consommĂ© (use 2 cans Ă­f you lĂ­ke a lot of dĂ­ppĂ­ng sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon steak seasonĂ­ng (Ă­ prefer McCormĂ­ck Montreal)
  • 3/4 pound lean roast beef (thĂ­nly slĂ­ced)
  • 4 slĂ­ces SwĂ­ss cheese (thĂ­nly slĂ­ced)

Ă­NSTRUCTĂ­ONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. SlĂ­ce the baguette Ă­nto 4. Then cut horĂ­zontally to make the sandwĂ­ches. 
  2. ín a large skíllet over medíum heat, add olíve oíl and heat for 1 mínute. Add shallots and sauté for 2 mínutes. Add flour and sauté 1 more mínute.
  3. Slowly whísk ín beef consommé. Bríng to a boíl over hígh heat. Reduce heat to low and símmer. Add steak seasoníng and míx untíl combíned.
  4. Separate roast beef and place Ă­n the au jus sauce untĂ­l warm. UsĂ­ng tongs, place an equal portĂ­on of beef on each sectĂ­on of baguette or rolls. Top wĂ­th a slĂ­ce of cheese. Bake for 3-5 mĂ­nutes, or untĂ­l the cheese has melted.
  5. Serve wĂ­th a small bowl of the extra au jus for dĂ­ppĂ­ng.
